Theological Vision
OUR VISION is to be a unified regional expression of the Presbyterian Church in America committed to extending the work of the Gospel, encouraging and strengthening our churches community for our members and member churches.
OUR VALUES are....
THE GOSPEL.....we embrace the historic Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, as expressed in Holy Scripture, which frees us from the human tendency to drift into legalism or license. It is the Gospel which is the power of God unto salvation and which alone is sufficient to restore broken relationship between God and man as well as between man and man. The Gospel, alone, is sufficient for every
opportunity, every failure, and every challenge.
COMMUNITY...We believe that the Gospel summons us to live together in relationships marked by honesty, love, and sacrifice. The Presbytery is the regional expression of the Church called to worship the living God and to serve Him in the spirit of unity. While our work may require much of us,
we will give highest priority to cultivating our relationship to God and with each other believing that in community we are given renewed energy, vision, and clarity of direction.
THE PRIMACY OF CHURCH PLANTING... While the presbytery engages in a variety of important ministries, the most strategic is that of planting healthy churches. We will not neglect other essential ministries, but will allocate our resources so as to aggressively plant new churches throughout our region.
The Strategic Importance of Campus Ministries…Within the bounds of our presbyterywe have a great number of major colleges and universities which cannot be ignored as arenas for ministry. Out of concern for reaching our region and the world with the gospel we will initiate and maintain a strong commitment to evangelism and leadership development on these college campuses.
OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES
WE WILL MEET AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY in order to faithfully foster our relationships.
WE WILL HOLD EACH OTHER ACCOUNTABLE to live in community, to faithfully fulfill the responsibilities assigned to us, and to conduct our respective ministries with absolute integrity.
WE WILL PLAN PRAYERFULLY realizing that to be effective we must seek guidance from God and move thoughtfully in a deliberate fashion.
WE WILL NOT NEGLECT OUR THEOLOGICAL COMMITMENTS and our polityclear witness in the world. For that reason, we will measure our life together, our worship, and our work by the clear teachings of the Word of God as interpreted by our constitutional standards.
